The Mother-Daughter Green Kitchen Duo that is The Cabinet Studio!
The word “green” is used so often today, its message has faded and the importance of its concept seems to have been narrowed to only a political position or choice of lifestyle. Unfortunately, this issue is more than just a choice, it’s our responsibility to do all we can to sustain the world we live in… but how does shopping for custom cabinetry fit in, and how can a consumer ensure a retailer or supplier truly prioritize this? Look no further than The Cabinet Studio, experts in custom cabinetry and superheroes in green-living! Since 1995, founder Tereza Hello has prioritized her customers’ needs above all else and in 2005, her daughter, Leigh Ann, joined her to create the dynamic mother/daughter design duo that is The Cabinet Studio! In 2008, her long-time manufacturer decided to re-engineer their finishing department to be the first green, non-toxic Kitchen and they couldn’t be happier for their clientele. Other companies that say they provide green options don’t always meet true green standards. The Cabinet Studio takes pride that their cabinet supplier chooses the highest standards in the industry, from the hardware to the finish!
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s): Why Say NO!
Cabinets off-gas VOC’s, or Volatile Organic Compounds. These carbon-based chemicals evaporate easily, becoming airborne, which can be harmful to your health for weeks, months and even years from the time of installation. “Going green is not a fad, it’s our responsibility, not just for our environment, but for our own daily health,” says Leigh. “When creating a new Kitchen in your home, you are creating a new look, a new aesthetic, but you are also creating new storage solutions for your food, your cutlery, your dishes. You have the choice to purchase cabinets to store these items with or without being surrounded by harmful toxins and chemicals.” It is extremely important to make “green” a priority when purchasing new cabinets if you suffer from symptoms like eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches, nausea/vomiting, dizziness and asthma as they can lead to chronic/long term effects like liver, kidney or nervous system damage.
Beautifying Your Home – Cabinet Studio has Style!
So now that you have a healthier choice available for your custom cabinets, don’t feel you have to sacrifice style or functionality. Tereza and Leigh make sure all of the conveniences are in your Kitchen and that your space is as timeless and beautiful as it is functional. You will be “in love” with your Kitchen for years to come when you choose The Cabinet Studio!
Cabinet Lines and Features
Tereza & Leigh point out that many cabinet companies (local and beyond) have approached them to sell their products. Sometimes intrigued, they look into the possibility but ultimately no one can compete with the manufacturer they have been using for 23 years, as their finish is top notch. They are so versatile they are able to offer their clients’ not only the beautiful functionality, durability and healthy green but also the ability to customize anything for them.
Please visit their YouTube Channel for more videos that will highlight many of the accessories they can put in your new Kitchen, such as drawers, inserts, divide-a-trays, customized cutlery dividers, modified recycle bin cabinets, and specialized units to showcase your personality.
The Cabinet Studio is big on drawers when designing their clients Kitchens. All of them include full-extension soft-close glides to easily access every inch of space. They also use the highest quality mechanisms so you can pull out the heaviest drawer with just a pinky and it will easily slide back into place for years to come.
Countertops
There are many countertop options available for your new Kitchen and The Cabinet Studio will explore many of the options with you from Granite to Quartz to Concrete to Wood. One of their favourite green options is quartz countertops, manufactured by Cambria Canada.
Cambria is environmentally responsible only using recycled water to polish countertop surfaces, saving an estimated 1.6 billion gallons of water annually. Also, quartz is the longest lasting, maintenance free, natural product available on the market. This is because it is physically a harder, non-porous material, therefore more durable and less likely to chip, stain or scratch, not requiring any sealing! Non-porous means non-absorbent so it is a healthier choice as well as it resists dangerous bacteria and requiring only soap and water to clean! If you were shopping for the perfect countertop, your research would lead you to Cambria Quartz!

Perhaps you’ve seen or heard of Tereza and Leigh Ann Hello in other Windsor Essex circles. This is because they work just as hard outside of their business to better the community with their volunteer work in areas like children’s literacy initiatives and especially with their passionate involvement in the Windsor Chapter of Crohns & Colitis Canada. Their support in this cause is because it hits very close to home.
Tereza & Leigh Ann’s daughter/sister, Jennifer has struggled with Crohn’s and Colitis since the age of 22 and they are determined to find a cure in her lifetime. As Corporate Chairs of the 2017 Gutsy Walk event, they believe that awareness needs to be heightened around the disease because people are not talking about it, even though most people know someone affected. It is a debilitating disease and can be fatal. “We’ve almost lost my sister because she was improperly diagnosed and therefore was left untreated for a number of years” says Leigh Ann, “that is how destructive this disease can be to the body. Until she was diagnosed with Crohn’s colitis, nutrients were not being absorbed in her body and some organs were beginning to shut down. Now she is being treated accordingly and luckily has been able to stay in relative remission with medication and diet” Not everyone is as lucky and that’s why finding a cure is so critical! Canada has one of the highest rates of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis in the world and those rates are increasing. Most alarming, the number of new cases of Crohn’s disease in Canadian children has almost doubled since 1995.
I realized the importance and joined the board in 2017 also my family and friends “Team Kambouris Got Gutz” walked for Crohns & Colitis the summer of 2017 and we all look forward to next year’s walk.
